A vitamin-rich, healthy spring leaf vegetable. A somewhat more robust version of leaf vegetables and closely related to turnip tops. Sow thinly in lines in the garden from March to May. Do not thin out. Harvest the crop once it is 15-20 cm tall. The leaves and leafstalks can be eaten in their entirety (in salads or stewed). Has a spicy spinach flavour. Suitable for all types of soil.
